Jazzy France Lustrous Lip Gloss in KLP-13 Ice Princess

This review is for one of Jazzy France’s newest products, the Lustrous Lip Gloss which is rumored to be the local answer (and cheaper alternative) to Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip. I currently own one shade, KLP-13 Ice Princess, which was sold out at SM Manila but available at SM BF Parañaque. Ice Princess is touted as a good dupe for Kylie Lip Kit Dolce K, and perhaps Colourpop Beeper (EDIT 09/07/16: also for Trap methinks) as well.

Brand: Jazzy France

Product Name: Lustrous Lip Gloss

Price: Php 299

Shade: (KLP-13) Ice Princess

Scent: very subtly sweet slight chemical smell from the tube but none when applied on the lips

Taste: none

Other shades: Perfect, Tea Rose, Maroon, Nutmeg, Garnet, Day Dream, Sunrise, Red Lips, Wine, Simply Red

Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit

We are in that period of makeup in which beauty enthusiasts can next to never miss uttering Kylie Jenner lips and/or liquid matte lipstick or fail to mention it in their blog/vlog/Twitter/IG. I’ve fallen victim to it, and so here is a lip product that has earned a place in my heart and my lipstick rotation (and is rumored to be a Kylie Lip Kit Candy K or Posie K dupe!)

Brand: Sleek Makeup

Product Name: Matte Me Ultra smooth matte lip cream

Price: Php 450

Shade: Birthday Suit

Scent: can’t distinguish but mild and not bothersome. No taste as well.

Content: 6 mL/0.21 fl.oz.

Product Description (from Sleek Makeup website):

Matte Me is a matte finish liquid lipstick that glides on in one smooth application, with no need for a second coat.

Birthday Suit is a classic wearable nude, that can be teamed with Au Naturel i-Divine on eyes for an enhanced you. The light as air texture provides you with comfortable wear for hours, that doesn’t cake, flake or dry out, ensuring long lasting colour all day.

Now, how cute is that shade name? Bum-nekkid Birthday Suit means a nude color fo sho. Quite punny, huh Sleek?

Shut Up and Kiss Me!

Okay, so I couldn’t resist using that cheeky title. Commanding and coy at the same time, this product name. I’ve already built a humble collection of Happy Skin’s Shut Up & Kiss Me lippies, but this review will be on the first two shades that started this addiction.

Brand: Happy Skin

Product Name: Shut Up & Kiss Me moisturizing lippie

Price: Php 549

Shade: Crushing On You, Summer Fling

Content: 2.7 g

Product description:

Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains

My first brush with lip crayons was with Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (Lovesick). I wanted to collect almost all of the shades (minus the red with orange undertone, orange, pale peach ones because I generally don’t favor “corals” and “oranges” and “anything that would make me look dead”).

Among the chubby lip crayons/gloss balms/balm stains/whathaveyous that have sprouted in makeuplandia, I’d like to try Tarte LipSurgence and Clinique’Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Balms (their first release of sheer washes of color and the Intense line) the most though they are obviously on the expensive side. Oh, and Revlon has upped their lip crayon game with their latest offering: the Colorburst Lacquer Balms and Matte Balms! I hope to find an online seller with reasonable prices for them!

Truly, the lip crayon craze has bowled the horde of makeup enthusiasts over and I predict it won’t be ending soon. I see why. It’s a lazy girl’s dream come true. No need to sharpen (= no product wastage), just twist it up. The fact that it is a pencil makes it easier to fill the lips with color, making it less likely to go beyond the lip lines, though in time and without proper upkeep, the pointed shape would be lost. And if you happen to have the lip color – balm – gloss hybrid (with legit moisturizing prowess + you’re going for the somewhat glossy look) then dang it girl, you can just swipe it on and you’re out the door.

Let me introduce you to my newfound friends… (Yes I have a very twisted notion of friendship. One in which I consume them. Literally. Because  I eat whatever I put on my lips.)

Say hello to my Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains!

Yeah, they look like Revlon JBKBS’ retractable packaging without the silver detail on the twistable end. The concept is the same as well, with the product applying smoothly like a balm then wearing down to a stain.

Claims:

• Moisturizing Balm Infused with a Light-Weight Stain
• Applies with a Glossy Finish then Transforms into the Perfect Flush of Color
• Long-Lasting
• Retractable, No Sharpening Required
• Paraben-Free
• Made in USA

Really, I have to twist clockwise for the color to be dispensed? D’oh!

This product must be used up within 3 years. With the way I’ve been toting these babies around (and ignoring the rest of my lipstick stash), the expiration date doesn’t matter much.

Twisting up to the entire length, the product has the same amount as Revlon’s JBKBS (0.095 oz or 2.7 grams). It has a faint sweet candy smell to it, with no trace of mint that Revlon’s balm stains are famous for. There’s no distinct taste to this balm stain, and I like my lip products that way. Also, the shade number and name are printed on the tube, though everything written on the label would likely be scratched off in the long run (happened to my Revlon Lovesick).

I bought three shades from Carefreeshopper for only Php285 each. The tubes were initially sealed in plastic, assuring me that they haven’t been tested. In the US, these babies retail for $2.99 (Php130 give or take) at Walgreens outlets. Can I say affordable? But how do they fare?

Top to Bottom: Honey Love, Terra Crave, Sweet Pink
The color of the packaging corresponds to their shades, making life easier for the lipstick junkies.

Skin swatches

under natural light
Left to Right: Honey Love, Terra Crave, Sweet Pink

(not quite under sunlight)
Left to Right: Honey Love, Terra Crave, Sweet Pink

They come in eight shades, consisting of nudes, pinks, and brights. The other five are Tropical Frenzy, Cranberry Crush, Rock N Rouge, Nude Chic, and Candied Coral. I plan on getting the first three  mentioned (or four, depending on whether I deem Nude Chic a worthy purchase) and not Candied Coral, because…coral. I do hope that  Jordana will add some more shades into the mix.

I got the safest colors of the bunch. With new products, especially those that can only be bought online, it’s a little inconvenient that you can’t be sure how a certain shade would look on you. I pored over every published blog review before purchasing. Of course I had felt the need to buy three other “bolder” shades. What led me to decide buying these shades instead? The fact that I probably wouldn’t wear the bold ones as much as I would these. I’d still buy the three bolder shades. Probably. On a day when my self-control and good judgment would fly out the window.

Like the name suggests, this lip product applies like a balm and for a while there is indeed a smooth, lightweight and moisturizing layer on the lips. I appreciate that it doesn’t accentuate dry lips (meaning on a really badly chapped lips day, you can rely on it) and doesn’t feather into lines. It’s not greasy and uncomfortable on the lips at all! There’s a sheen to it but not heading to glossy goopsville. Pigmentation is superb! One light-handed swipe will give a sheer wash of color on the lips but a few passes more builds up the color. After some time it dries down to a stain which can be observed to be more pronounced for darker or brighter colors. The balmy part lasts for a few hours before it wears off and leaves a stain that could last for a long time (of course depending on your mouth’s activities and lip-licking habit). It doesn’t flake and it doesn’t leave my lips dry at the end of the day.

05 Honey Love

Oh Honey Love how I love thee! Honey Love is a rosy mauvy pink brown sort of MLBB. In person the mauvy tones are more obvious. Really pretty foolproof color. It’s said to be a dupe for Revlon Honey as THIS and THIS post seem to prove and THIS post debunks. I think they differ a few smidgens in pink tones.

Honey Love freshly applied

After 3 1/2 hours, here’s what remained on my lips. Just a teeny bit of stain methinks. Such is the case for neutral shades.

Now I shall ruthlessly distract you with this pan of pizza!

After devouring a slice plus some spaghetti, Honey Love is practically gone. (please excuse the remnants of food on my lower lip line. ugh gross)

08 Terra Crave

If you want to wear Fall on your lips, Terra Crave might help you with that. This spice shade reminds me of dried leaves in autumn. It’s work/office-friendly and something mature women would like. Not that I’m dismissing this one because I really like it!

Terra Crave freshly applied

After two hours, a visible stain remained.

I ate lunch and the stain faded. Color was left around my lip line.

02 Sweet Pink

Sweet Pink is a blue-toned bubblegum pink. I like that it’s not too bright but not boring at all.

Sweet Pink freshly applied

The stain after two hours. A tad deeper than the color when freshly applied. My lips were extra flaky that day but it’s not due to the product. My lips’ bad state was actually hidden by the balm stain but when the balm wore off, the ugly truth was revealed.

After lunch, the same fading happened with Sweet Pink as with Terra Crave.

Here’s a comparison of Jordana Twist & Shine’s packaging with Revlon JBKBS and Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me (review up next!)

Top to Bottom: Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me, Jordana Twist & Shine, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (the label has completely been erased)

Left to Right: Happy Skin SU&KM Summer Fling, Happy Skin SU&KM Crushing On You, Jordana T&S Honey Love, Jordana T&S Terra Crave, Jordana T&S Sweet Pink, Revlon JBKBS Lovesick)

After a few passes of tissue, here are the stains left. Sweet Pink and Lovesick are the brightest of the bunch, hence the stronger their stains are.

Comparison with Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain: I think Twist & Shine is more moisturizing than the Revlon ones. It applies smoother and is creamier. At the end of the day, Revlon tends to dry up my lips a bit, which doesn’t happen with Jordana’s balm stains. I like both of them though.

The only cons I could think of for this product are availability (you have to buy it through online sellers or on their website) and the number of existing shades in the line (though they have a great variety with three nudes of different undertones, two pinks, a red, a coral, and a berry). Also, it’s worth noting that the cap is less snug than that of Revlon’s so it’s best to make sure it doesn’t come off when you put it away.

Overall, I really like these. As I’ve said, I’ll probably end up getting three (or four) more shades.

If you’re wondering how some of the shades would look like on warmer skin tones head over to Ishah x Beauty’s post HERE. For complete lip swatches, you can visit posts by Pang (Beauty Redefined by Pang), Crystal (Valentine Kisses), and Emily (BeautyBroadcast.net) HERE, HERE, and HERE. If you want to see comparison swatches for Revlon and Tarte dupe possibilities, pore over Shalunya’s post HERE. In my opinion, all shades would fit most skin tones. 🙂

Has the balm stain fever stricken you as well? Do share. 🙂

Lippie Lovin’: Models Own HyperBrite Lipstick in Orangeade

Ola chicas! Espero que estés bien!

I’ve been on a Latina streak lately because I’ve just started Zumba!
I’m now officially a Zumba-ding! 😛
It’s so much fun! I personally think everyone should try it!
It’s a great way to lose weight without feeling like a tedious task to tick off your daily to-dos list!

Now before I get distracted and blabber about how amazing my latest fitness craze is, I’ve got a lipstick review for you today! *why are you not surprised. I’m sorry if you’re beginning to think that this is the only product I’m good at or interested in reviewing.*

It’s summertime and I know you’ve all been whipping out those corals, oranges and bright pinks! It’s the best season to be in love with brights and colors after all! I’ve been loving Models Own HyperBrite Lipstick in Orangeade lately! ☺

When I first saw a photo of Models Own‘s lipsticks, I thought that the packaging was tacky and easily breakable. I was surprised to see for myself that it’s actually very sturdy and it doesn’t look so bad in person. It is a bit heavier than the average lipstick tube though. Since it’s clear, you can easily see the shade so if you have a lot of Models Own lipsticks it would be easy to distinguish it from the others. Also, you’ll be able to tell if you’re running out of it.

Orangeade. Sounds like a refreshing fruit drink, doesn’t it?

Looks scary bright orange in the tube! Hyperbrite nga raw e!

Well it really is a bright orange.

One swipe will give a sheer tint but it is buildable. To make it opaque you’ll need 3-4 passes on your lips. Based on stalking the other colors in the line, the three other shades (Pink Hawaiian, Flaming Red, Annalise’s Pink) look more pigmented than this in my opinion. ☺

It says Matt at the bottom though I don’t think this is a true matte. It has a slight sheen and has a teeny bit of a slippery feel to it. It can pass off as semi-matte if you’re not so strict with the definitions of lipstick finishes. It has a strong fruity vanilla scent that’s only bothersome in the first minute since it dissipates soon after application. I get around 3-4 hours of wear time using this lipstick so that’s pretty decent for me.
  It looks neon here! *squeals*

One thing that I absolutely love about Orangeade is that it has no undertones whatsoever. Just a true orange (like Royal Tru Orange. *Wenk, wenk, wenk. Badoomtsss! I know, I know corny talaga ako mag-joke!*)
I used to hate orange lipsticks because I thought they looked horrible on me but I took baby steps starting with this lipstick (baby steps na talaga yang bright orange na yan ha?) and fell in love! Now I wear oranges and corals everywhere at any time of the day!

I’d be talking more about the lipstick above in another post, but for now here’s a sneak peek at Chelsea. She’s my concealer nude lipstick, as I’d like to describe her. This bad girl is from Beauty UK. She helps me a great deal in creating lighter, milkier-looking shades, therefore further “expanding” my lipstick collection. I like making a milky orange/peach lip color by marrying Orangeade with Chelsea. You know how Koreans made milky shades trendy right? I’m thrilled that I don’t have to spend more money because of Chelsea! ☺

Sorry for the bad photo. I haven’t properly blended the lip products and I’m too lazy to repeat it. 😛

Tip: If you find Orangeade too bright, you can either apply 1-2 swipes, blot it, or mix it with a lighter shade. You can also make a coral shade by mixing it with a pink lipstick!

LOVES…
* It’s bright orange. What’s not to love about that?
* Nice pigmentation, opaque in 3-4 swipes
* Buildable from a light tint to a bold color
* Doesn’t drag on the lips when being applied
* Stays on for a decent wear time of 3-4 hours
* Can be mixed with other lip colors
* Sturdy, clear packaging
* Smells nice
* Affordable at Php400-450 through online sellers – it’s a good enough price for an imported brand with nice quality and sturdy packaging

GRRRS…
* Can only be bought online

VERDICT:
It’s worth buying and repurchasing though I won’t be finishing it soon because I have other orange and coral lipsticks that I use alternately. I’d like to get Annalise’s Pink and Pink Hawaiian! ☺

It’s the lipstick that changed my mind about the idea of orange on me so it will always have a special place in my heart. *awwwww*

Do you love orange lipsticks?
What shade are you rockin’ this summer?
Tell me all about it! ☺

Lippie Lovin’: MAC Ronnie Red + Comparison Swatches

Hi ladies! I’m back for the other half of the MAC Archie’s Girls lipsticks that I purchased from Carefreeshopper!
Make way for RONNIE (Red)!

Ronnie Red’s ingredients printed on the box at the bottom.

As I’ve said in my post for Betty Bright, I have a lot more of Ronnie in me. I’m quite impulsive in buying clothes or makeup whenever I have cash. These lippies were a planned purchase using my online earnings so they don’t count, but still! Also Ronnie can be a scheming b***h sometimes, and I’m not so squeaky clean, though I try to be kind and good. I believe Ronnie, despite her vanity and desire for the finest things in life (yes FINEST not just finer), at the core she is really a good girl.
Ronnie Red is matte!
Surprisingly, this isn’t as drying as Russian Red! It’s “less matte”.
I don’t have Ruby Woo but I’ve heard that it’s even more drying than Russian Red.
I still want to get Ruby Woo.
Hurray for choosing lipstick addiction over my lips’ health!

Hello there, gorgeous!

Sweaty rin si Ronnie?
Ronnie Red  applied lightly in order to achieve what would hopefully pass as a “tint”.
Mug shot w/ light application of Ronnie Red.
Two swipes.
Mug w/ regular application
MAC Ronnie Red is described on the website as a “bright red” with a matte finish.
To me it’s a pink-red with blue undertones (as Temptalia has also described it).
I agree with her that this isn’t the traditional matte that could make your lips dry and chap so bad.
And this is what was left 10 hours after initial application WITHOUT retouching.
Staying power is superb!
Yep, I ate merienda and dinner and this is what was left!
Pinkness is obvious!
A vain shot of me with Ronnie Red. See the pinkness peeking through?
Now for some comparison swatches with my humble red lipstick collection!
Taken in the shade, natural light
Beauty UK in Passion has more pink in it than Ronnie Red I think, (especially on the lips). Still bright on its own though. Not exactly a dupe, but if you’re lemming for a pink red, this one is good enough.
Avon Totally Kissable in Make Out Red which is part of Avon’s latest lipstick collection is also a pinky red! They’re in the same color family but this is also a wee pinker than Ronnie Red. Get this one if you don’t want to spend a lot of money for a limited edition MAC lipstick.
I don’t know for sure how to describe how Passion and Make Out Red are more pink than Ronnie Red  especially when worn on the lips. I’ll try with this: I think Ronnie Red’s pinkness has a way of going into hiding under all her red. Then the pink tone shows up as the lipstick fades on your lips. Hope you get what I mean!
MAC Russian Red is obviously darker, bluer and a truer red
Ever Bilena Love That Red is less blue but a truer red
Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose in Carmen Rose is a demure red with some hints of pink as well. It looks more red in my skin swatch and on my lips as you can see in this post.
Under warmer natural light
(Sorry, was lazy to repeat the labels waha)
All in all, I love Ronnie Red better than Betty Bright!
Have an awesome week everyone! ☺

Lippie Lovin’: MAC Betty Bright + Comparison Swatches

Hey ladies! I have for you a quick review of a lipstick from my favorite MAC collaboration/limited edition collection yet, the Archie’s Girls Collection!
I got these from Carefreeshopper. Shout out to Ms. Armie! 😀
I just loooooove this collection. I know some ladies find white packaging tacky, but I couldn’t care less as long as I have my favorite comic book characters on them! IMHO it added to the cute appeal! 😛
Yeah I got the shades with Veronica and Betty’s names in them. Online swatches helped me choose the shades as well of course. I sort of regret not getting Oh Oh Oh (a repromote as a Betty lipstick this time) and Daddy’s Little Girl (from Ronnie’s side. I can’t help remembering my father because I’m his little girl *sob, I miss you Daddy!* Plus the shade is a lovely pinky purple! There are lots of similar shades for this one from MAC and other brands though so yes it’s dupeable).

Betty vs. Veronica!
Ho-hum, ze ingredients. Betty Bright’s box on top and Ronnie Red at the bottom.
This review is for Betty Bright!
Who doesn’t love Betty? She’s the All-American girl-next-door. She’s big-hearted yet sometimes she likes to get even with Ronnie (though she usually reverts to being good; she can’t go far from her very nature to be kind and sweet heh). I wish I could be more like her! I have lots of Ronnie in me I think! 😛
Yep. Betty Bright is satin folks! The not moisturizing yet not too drying formula of MAC. I sometimes skip using lip balm because I’m bullheaded like that *smug*.
I ♥ staring at it in its unused glory.
Betty came to me a little sweaty. (Ooh, that rhymes) She’s, I mean IT’s not like this anymore.
On ze lips applied lightly.
Please forgive my makeupless haggardo versoza fezlak due to reviewing for the board exams.
Two swipes this time. ☺
It’s opaque as you can see from the photo above and this one below.
Full mug.
I initially thought the shade would wash me out, but I think it works out just fine with my skintone. Whatcha think? (Am I an NC20-25? Someone enlighten me please!)
It’s described as a light vibrant peach on the website, but it obviously has some pink in it to be labeled as “peach”. It’s more of a coral pink. I guess that’s how it shows on my skintone and lip pigmentation (my lips are a bit pale most of the time hehe). Maybe wearing a pink top brought out more of the pinkness. Also, if I took the photo nearer the sunlight, the warmer coral tones would show up better, methinks. Anyway, it’s a great spring/summer color!
Here is Betty Bright compared to the other peachy pink/coral pink lipsticks in my collection. I predict that I will use this set to the point of abuse this season. 😛
Wet n Wild Pinkerbell is obviously pinker and more matte (said to be a MAC Viva Glam Nicki 1 dupe!)
Etude House Dear Darling Ultra Shine Lips in Peach Shine is peachier and of course has a different finish.
L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Stick in Sunset Angora is more peach as well, has a different finish.
Avon Ultra Moisture Rich Rose in Apricot Nectar Rose is similar, albeit a tad pinker. It’s a great budget similar color! I don’t have a swatch but I think Maybelline Color Sensational in Angel Rose (also pinker) could also be a good alternative. What sets Betty Bright apart from the two is its “brightness” and it is lighter in color.
Barry M Lip Paint 153 Pink Ribbon looks obviously out of place. Just wanted to compare how a neutral pink looks versus a warm-toned one. 😛 *excuses excuses!*
Revlon Super Lustrous Pink in the Afternoon is a more subdued warm and rosy pink, has a satin finish with a bit of sheen to it. It’s one of my favorite lipsticks of all time. (nyaha OTT much)
Will I buy it again?
Definitely. I could only hope Betty Bright could make a comeback and stay for good even if MAC chooses to rename it.
There ya go!
Have you treated yourself to a product from the collection?
Are you loving it so far? ☺
P.S. It’s so darn hot in the Philippines! Summer is really here!
Kung mayaman lang ako ipina-aircon ko na buong bahay namin! 😛

Lippie Lovin’: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick

Hey ladies! I have for you a quick review on my current favorite fuchsia lip color!
It’s Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick!
You’ve probably heard (and read) a lot about this baby,
so I’ll keep this post short.

Lovesick was the shade Emma Stone wore in this ad…

Oh how I wish I looked as pretty and had Andrew G. by my side. 😛

It is a bit shorter now than in this photo. 😛
I try to use it in a way that it won’t make the tip too flat in the long run.

Lovesick is a fuchsia pink with hints of purple.
It has microshimmers without looking frosty.
The color is buildable and it intensifies once the lip product has settled.

A lip swatch for y’all.

My lips look weird here. Sowee. 😛

LOVES…
The pretty fuchsia pink color
Easy to apply
Moisturizing enough
Pigmented and leaves a stain once the balm has dried up
Doesn’t feel heavy on the lips
Has a nice glossy sheen
Survives a meal
Minty scent and slight tingling sensation that lasts for a short while
Great for working women (Honey would be a better choice for office)
Available at Revlon counters in malls and through online sellers
Nice shade selection

GRRS…
Expensive at Php575 if bought at the mall.
(Online sellers offer this for around Php350-450)

All in all, a great product! I’d like to have Sweetheart, Crush, Smitten, Honey and Precious as well!

Are you loving this product too?
Which shade do you have?

Lippie Lovin’: Snoe Rouge Deluxe in X4 Berry Divine

Happy rainy evening guys! Let’s enjoy the cold breeze while we can because before we know it, the heat of the sun would be unbearable again come summer! But if you’d be heading off to Baguio, Tagaytay or the beach and would be having a grand time, then I congratulate you! I have to spend the start of the summer (March to April) with my nose buried in my Unit Operations, Math, Chemistry and etc. books.
I know I promised you guys a swatch of the Snoe Rouge Deluxe in Berry Divine, which I got as a gift from my brother, so here it is! I have mostly the same thoughts as with my first tube from the line which is Chili Pepper. If you want, you can read my review for this lipstick by clicking right HERE.
Cutesy packaging. 😀
Code and shade name

Excuse the grit on this, I don’t know where it came from!
I’m not sure if it’s from the product itself or if it’s from the fish crackers I ate prior to swatching. 😛
I checked it again a while ago and this grit is absent naman.
*raises eyebrow to the mystery before me*
Anyway, here is le swatch on my lips!
Berry Divine is very divine indeed! I like the bright berry pink color! It’s so feminine with a bit of edge! I haven’t been experimental with this lip color when I wear it out of the house. I keep the eyes neutral or bare and my cheeks either bare or with a light dusting of pink blush, preferably a bit cool-toned or of a similar hue as the lipstick methinks. But that’s just me. Feel free to be adventurous when you get your own tube! 😛
And of course, here is the dark pink stain that was left after I ate my lunch of paksiw na bangus (oversharing? :P). It stayed on until I ate my dinner (spaghetti. Yes I am on a mission to make you hungry. heehee).

Product Critique: Snoe Beauty Rouge Deluxe in X8 Chili Pepper (The 9 Hour Road Test)

Hello ladies! The coming year is beckoning! Are you excited? I sure am! I’ve been hearing firecrackers exploding in our neighborhood and I put extra effort in making sure that where I put my foot is is safe. There are naughty kids on our street kasi. Anyways, for this post I’ll be reviewing my favorite red lipstick to date:
Snoe Beauty Rouge Deluxe in X8 Chili Pepper

I got it for free at Snoe Beauty’s 3rd Semi-Annual Blogger Event but this retails for Php399 at all Snoe Beauty outlets and online.
Cutesy vintage-looking box, don’t you think?

I like the dainty gold design on the light pink plastic tube! I hope it doesn’t fade over time! If it does, I’ll do my very best to preserve it as long as I can! 😛 I think the tube could be better improved, but if the production cost went to ensuring prime quality of the product itself, I can’t complain much!

Product description on the box

Check out the stuff it’s formulated without!
Directions for use

Ingredients list. It’s infused with a lot of oils and vitamins!

Proudly Philippine Made!
Contact details are printed on the box as well

Upon opening and a little twisting, this happy and bright red will greet you!

Swatched on my wrist (under direct sunlight)

Under natural light

I rubbed it off with tissue and look at the stain it left!

I did this road test on three separate occasions but decided to go with posting photos of the last one. The first was during my movie date with mom, the second was done at night (err poor lighting anyone?) and this successful one was at home, starting at 10 AM.

Freshly applied

No signs of fading yet.

No, it ain’t goin’ nowhere!

After eating lunch… (I think I ate something oily that day)
The creamy coat of lipstick is mostly gone but look at that stain y’all!

Late afternoon, stain is still there albeit a little faded

At 7 pm, the stain has faded further, but dang, it’s still there!

On my late night test (second test from 9:30 PM – 3:30 AM), it stayed on for four hours without lip activity. At 2:30 AM that night I licked my lips on purpose and drank water so the coat was removed and the stain was left.

Now my thoughts on the product:

Chili Pepper is a bright true red shade. I usually dismiss getting bright red lipsticks because I feel like they are too in your face and I prefer classic reds like MAC Russian Red. Chili Pepper changed my mind! I’d definitely wear this any time of the day. The lipstick feels nice on the lips and the color payoff is really good. I didn’t experience any drying despite its satin finish, so props to Snoe Beauty for that. The lipstick stays on for about 4 hours without a lot of lip activity (without eating, drinking or too much licking of lips) before a long-staying stain takes over. The transition from the fresh coat to stain isn’t unflattering (no patchiness and uneven fading). Very good indeed!

Loves…
The color
– Creamy texture
– Applies smoothly
– Nicely pigmented!
– The lipstick itself stays long if you don’t eat or drink
– Leaves a pretty stain that stays on for a long time!
– Didn’t dry out my lips
– Doesn’t have an unpleasant taste
– The lip caring ingredients
– The things it doesn’t have (parabens, sulfates, phthalates etc.)
– Cute vintage packaging
– Easy to get hold of because Snoe Beauty branches keep sprouting!

Grrs…
– Pricier than lipsticks of other local brands but given the benefits, I’m ok with it
– Some may not like the sweet scent (smells of oils and other ingredients) but I’m pretty tolerant with scents unless it smells really bad or chemical

Verdict:
I love this lipstick and I plan on getting the other shades, starting with those I like best. You’ve got to get yourselves ready though because by next year there will be A LOT MORE to choose from!

I’ll be posting swatches on Berry Divine soon, which is my brother’s Christmas gift to me! I’d like to get Vintage Rose too because I think it will be a great everyday lipstick. I’d have to swatch Sugar and Spice first and see if it’s the pink I’m looking for. I should get a tube of Bite Me soon because it’s limited edition!

I would like to commend Snoe Beauty for making their Rouge Deluxe debut consist of colors that are hip and trendy. The current choices are really nice and many would likely be able to snag a shade that they prefer. And I love that they’re choosing to expand the Rouge Deluxe lipstick collection by bringing more nudes, browns and some reds to the table in the coming year! Have you seen this photo on their Facebook page? I’m so excited! Hopefully there would be MAC dupes in there. 😛
